Getting Started
What makes The Bear Trainer different from other online coaches?
We created The Bear Trainer specifically to be a safe space for gay guys who are serious about training. We wanted to build a place where you feel completely comfortable and understood, which is the foundation of a great coach-client relationship. Beyond the one-on-one coaching, you’ll also become part of our community. We have a group of over 80 like-minded guys who are all on similar journeys. It’s a place to share wins, ask questions, and talk sh*te all day. We’ve got your back every step of the way.
How do I sign up for online coaching?
To kick things off, simply head to our "Book a Free Call" page on the website. Pick a date and time that works for you, and we'll send you a calendar invite with a Google Meet link. During the call, we'll chat about your goals and if it's for you, you’ll get you signed up from there.
What do I need to sign up?
Just your drive to want to change! We'll get you set up on our app, and then you'll just need to fill out our consultation form. This form is your chance to give us as much info as possible, and we'll use all that data to build your bespoke plans.
Can I upgrade my package if I use one of the PDF plans?
Of course. If you purchased a PDF plan and want to move to the next stage of your training journey, just book a call with us through the website.
What if I've never been to a gym before?
No problem at all. We work with clients of all experience levels. Your plan will be built for you, taking your current experience into account. We focus on using a mix of machines and free weights, with machines being a great and safe way to build muscle by ensuring constant tension and reducing injury risk. We'll guide you every step of the way.
I'm an advanced lifter and have been coached before. Is your coaching suitable for me?
Absolutely. We have the experience and knowledge to handle guys who are already at a high level of bodybuilding and want to push further. Our coaching is built on a deep understanding of advanced training protocols, nutritional strategies, and recovery methods to ensure you keep progressing, no matter your level.
The Process & Training
How will I get my plans?
Everything's on our The Bear Trainer App. That's where you'll find your training plan, nutrition plan, and supplement plan. Easy.
How do I log my progress?
You log everything directly on The Bear Trainer App. Think of it as your gym buddy going forward; you'll use the app to log your progress during each gym session. It's clever enough to carry over data from previous weeks, so you can always keep an eye on how well you're doing. Plus, you can even log your food and track your macros on it. Logging every session is non-negotiable for success.
How do I complete my check-in?
You submit your check-in on The Bear Trainer App. This is one of the most vital parts of the whole process – it's how your trainers know how things are progressing so we can keep supporting you.
Do I need to be present for my check-in?
No, not at all. As long as you submit it on time, we'll screen record the check-in and send it over to you via WhatsApp. On the recording, we'll show you all your progress, compare your progress pictures, and make any necessary tweaks to your plans.
How important is sticking to the plan?
It’s everything. Muscle growth and fat loss don’t happen overnight; they are the result of building solid, repeatable habits. Your training and meal plans are designed to get you results, but they only work if you follow them consistently.
What do you need from me as a client?
We need your commitment and clear communication. This means you need to:
Check-in weekly on time: You'll need to submit your weight, measurements, and progress photos. The more detail you provide, the better we can adjust your plan.
Be patient: This is a long-term game. You will have slow weeks or dips in motivation, but you need to keep pushing forward.
Communicate: If you're struggling or have questions, just message us. We're here to help you succeed.
What if I’m traveling during my training?
Don't worry, we can absolutely support you and help you still hit your goals while you're away. Just let us know your travel plans, and we'll build a suitable plan for you.
What if I need a break?
Life happens. Just let us know, and we’ll pause your subscription until you’re ready. This is about long-term success.
How quickly will I see results?
Fitness transformations take time. While many guys feel stronger and more energetic within the first couple of weeks, visible changes depend on your starting point, your goals (fat loss or muscle gain), and—most importantly—your consistency with the training and nutrition plans. Stick to the plan, and the results will come.
Nutrition & Supplements
What if I don't like some of the food on the plan?
That's not a problem. The meal plan is a template built around foods that will help you achieve your goals. If there's something you don't like, just let us know. We can work together to find alternatives that you enjoy and that still fit your macros and your lifestyle. The key is to have a plan you can stick to consistently.
Do you work with guys who use PEDs or TRT?
Yes, we work with both natural and enhanced athletes. Our coaching is based on scientific principles of training, nutrition, and recovery that apply to everyone. If you are using PEDs, it is crucial that you are open and honest with us so we can tailor your plan safely and effectively to your specific situation.
Payments & Credentials
How much is it to sign up?
Your initial payment covers an 8-week period. This ensures you get used to the the plan so we can see results in the first 8 weeks! Following this, your subscription will seamlessly transition to a rolling monthly payment.
How do payments work?
Payments are handled simply and securely through Stripe. It’s set up as a recurring subscription in your local currency, so once you're signed up, the payments are taken care of automatically. This means no effort is needed from you each month, allowing you to focus completely on your training and nutrition.
How do I cancel?
Following the initial 8-week sign-up, a four-week notice period is required to cancel your subscription.
How do I get in touch with my trainer?
We use WhatsApp as our main way of communicating, so you can always drop your trainer a message there.
What are your qualifications?
THE BEAR TRAINER provides expert online coaching for muscle growth and fat loss, built on science and proven by results. Our credentials are:
Certified to the highest industry standards, holding Level 3 Personal Trainer and Level 4 Nutrition qualifications.
Members of CIMSPA (The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity), ensuring your training is safe, effective, and professional.
